Tai Chi Chi Kung: Effortless Flow of Chi Power
+ Taoist Yoga /Certification Course
July 04 to July 09, 2008

Taught by Marie Favorito & Jamee Culbertson

This retreat is open to all, beginner or advanced, which may be separated into different learning tracks. It doesn't matter what style of tai chi form (yang, wu, etc.) you've learned previously, as this course covers the fundamentals for any form.

This is probably the best short Tai Chi form ever designed: 8 postures, 5 directions, with unique spirals gracefully flowing left and right. Most forms only turn in one direction. By turning in both directions, it develops both left and right hemispheres of the brain and Energy Body.

Learning this short form will capture the essence of all Tai Chi, add poise and balance, and greatly improve your health. Much scientific research has now been done on the numerous health benefits of tai chi, from lowering blood pressure to restoring heart health to preventing falls amongst seniors.

This is the secret practice form of the original Yang family in China. They are said to have taught the long form so they could charge their rich clients more money – but mostly practiced this short form in the privacy of their home.

We’ll learn the inner structure of chi flow, breathing with total mind-body awareness. If you already know a tai chi form, this will help you to refine your Tai Chi with superb details and personal hands on attention - rooting, dan tian centering, expansion & contraction and mindful choice.

It's useful to obtain a copy of Mantak Chia and Juan Li's The Inner Structure of Tai Chi book before coming, but it will also be available at the retreat. This is one of the best practical books ever written on Tai Chi. It is also helpful to obtain a copy of Marie Favorito's Tai Chi Chi Kung DVD, one of the best made on this form.

Note: Students who already know this short tai chi chi kung form may enroll for a weekend option if you want to come for corrections only.
The weekend dates would be friday eve thru Sunday dinner, July 6-8. You must call the registrar to arrange this weekend review. Cost is $250. for weekend only. If you do not know the form, you need to sign up for the full week to learn it.

Jamee Culbertson from Boston will be assisting with structure and awareness integrating Alexander work into the Tai chi practice.
