Boston Healing Tao School of Taoist Practices

All Boston Healing Tao Senior Instructors are First Aid CPR AED Certified with the American Heart Association.

Currently BHT Senior Instructors are in collaboration with Dr. Peter Wayne and fellow Harvard Medical School researchers to create and teach the curriculum for a special study evaluating the safety and effectiveness of mind-body exercises including Tai Chi and Meditative Breathing, for improving exercise capacity, function, psychological well-being, and quality of life in individuals with heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).   Tai Chi and Mind-Body Research Program at Harvard Medical School’s Osher Research Center

Marie Favorito, Director, Boston Healing Tao

Marie is a Senior Instructor in the Universal Healing Tao founded by GrandMaster Mantak Chia. Marie Co-Chairs the Certification Committee for the Healing Tao Instructors Association, (HTIA). Marie has nearly 30 years of teaching experience in the Tao: Tai Chi Chi Kung, (Long and Short Forms, Sword Form), numerous Chi Kung Forms and many levels of Meditation.  Marie has years of experience teaching seniors at Senior Centers locally. Marie participates in Tai Chi studies with Harvard University. As well as teaching these Taoist practices Marie incorporates Chi Organ-Abdominal Massage, Chi Nei Tsang, CNT, and Chi Kung Healing in her private practice.  She has teaches workshops Internationally in Germany, Thailand, Australia Canada and throughout the USA.  Marie is First Aid CPR AED Certified with the American Heart Association.


Jamee Culbertson, Senior Instructor

Jamee is a Senior Instructor in the Universal Healing Tao teaching Tai Chi, Chi Kung and the Meditation techniques taught within the Universal Healing Tao System. Jamee participates in Tai Chi studies with Harvard University.  She is an Internationally certified Alexander Technique Instructor and Teacher trainer at the Alexander Technique School at Cambridge and the Boston Conservatory.  She teaches at Berklee and the Boston Conservatory as a teacher trainer.  She also offers workshops throughout New England, Mexico and Asia and also has a private practice in Massachusetts. Jamee is also a Video Artist and Award winning Documentary Filmmaker. She produced the film “How it All Began, Origins of Master Mantak Chia’s Universal Tao System” and is enjoying the distribution release into the marketplace as of June 2014. Joe Anzalone, Senior Instructor

Joe is a Senior Instructor in the Universal Healing Tao. He has been a student of alternative wellness practices since the mid-1980’s.  He is also trained in the Relaxation Response taught by Dr. Herbert Benson. Joe participates in Tai Chi studies with Harvard University.  Joe is a Senior Manager at Boston University (BU) School of Public Health, in the Department of Global Health.  Prior to working at BU, he served in the Peace Corps, in Liberia West Africa as a Health Volunteer. I have a BA degree in International Relations from CSU, Chico and a Master of Public Health degree from BU. He is happily married since 1993. Joe was introduced to the Healing Tao System by an acupuncturist in the late 80’s, through Healing Tao books. I did weekend workshops with Master Chia and others in the early 90’s. In 2000, I got serious with the Tao, studying weekly under Marie Favorito; that summer, I attended teacher training (studying with Master Chia, Masahiro Ouchi & Ron Diana) and became a certified instructor.  I have been fortunate to continue to study with Master Chia annually in Boston, and was delighted to participate in the 2010 Tao Congress Conference at Tao Garden.  Joe is First Aid CPR AED Certified with the American Heart Association.


Jacki Katzman, Certified Associate Instructor

Jacki is an Associate Healing Tao Instructor with the Boston Healing Tao. Jacki has studied internal and martial arts for over 25 years. A long-time student of the Boston Healing Tao and a Reiki Master, Jacki incorporates chi kung, chi nei tsan, and Healing Tao meditations her in Reiki sessions. She started her martial arts studies with Master Roger Whidden, earning a kempo karate brown belt. She currently studies Feldenkrais Technique with Josh Schrieber. She also plays bass in Jah Free-I, a reggae band.
