THE INNER SMILE

The Inner Smile is the most basic, but profound relaxation meditation in the Healing Tao. It calms and strengthens your nervous system by bringing the energy and essence of a smile into your body. With the power of your mind you guide the smiling essence through your major organs, the digestive tract, and the brain and spine, enlivening the central nervous system. Used as a tool, the Inner Smile meditation helps you handle life's everyday challenges, allowing you to stay centered in the most trying of situations, while transforming stress into vitality.

You will begin the Inner Smile meditation by thinking of something or someone who will make you smile.  Really feel how pleasant this is.   Sense the smiling energy at the mid-point of your brow.  Allow this smiling energy to pour down relaxing your eyes, face, mouth and neck muscles.  Now smile down to the thymus glad, the heart and lungs, the liver and pancreas, the spleen and kidneys.  Don't worry if at first you don't know exactly where these organs are.  Use your mind and keep that smiling energy and intent strong.  Keep it going down through your bladder and urital genital organs and glands.

Next, you will learn to smile down through the digestive system.  From your mouth where you'll gather some saliva, swallow down through your esophagus, your small intestine, large intestine, and rectum.  You'll find this will help you to make better food choices and find it easier to digest the food you eat.

 

Next you bring the smiling energy to your third eye and into your brain, the pituitary gland, the thalamus gland, and the pineal gland and moving to and fro from right and left brain. This will balance both sided of the brain.  Then move the smile through your mid brain and down the spinal column one vertebrae at a time moving all the way down to the tailbone.

Then starting with your eyes again, bring the smiling energy down through the entire length of your body like a cascade of smiles.  Keep smiling and loving yourself feeling a great appreciation for all that your body does for you!

When you are done bring your hands over your belly and collect the energy there, in your storage house of chi.  This energy is now available to you at any time of the day or night for any means, for healing or creativity or for deepening relationships.
